Schema Badges
Schema badges are declarative trust indicators that use the DSM's scoring rule engine to automatically award badges when certain conditions are met. Badges provide visual, verifiable proof that a user or entity has demonstrated a particular capability or credential.
What defines a badge
Each badge definition includes:
- Name — the title of the badge (e.g., "Verified Identity")
- Visual presentation — icon, colour, and descriptive text
- Rule set — conditions that automatically trigger the badge award
How badges work
Badges are awarded programmatically through scoring rules. For example:
- A "Verified Identity" badge could be awarded when a user has a verified passport node with a confidence score above a certain threshold
- A "AML Checked" badge could be awarded when PEP checks and sanction list screening have been completed
- A "Trusted Partner" badge could be awarded based on historical reputation scores
Administration
Badge definitions are administrative — only authorised users can create or modify badge definitions. However, once defined, all users within a tenant can see the available badges and which badges have been awarded to each user.
Display and verification
Badges appear on public profiles and can be used as trust signals in sharing workflows. Each badge award is backed by the rules that triggered it, creating a verifiable audit trail of why the badge was granted.
