Access Applications
An access application (AA) is the central configuration object that defines how data sharing works between a requesting organisation and data-providing individuals. It acts as a data sharing contract definition — specifying what data is requested, how it is encrypted, who can participate, and what happens at each stage of the workflow.
Data Sharing Model (DSM)
Raytio's Data Sharing Model (DSM) is the core infrastructure that powers secure, multi-party data exchange across the platform. It defines how individuals own and control their data, how organisations request and receive that data, and how every interaction is cryptographically protected and auditable.
DSM Architecture Overview
The Data Sharing Model (DSM) is the core distributed trust infrastructure that powers Raytio's data sharing capabilities. It provides the foundation for secure, multi-party data exchange where individuals control their own data and selectively share it with organisations through cryptographically-protected channels.
Events and Webhooks
The DSM includes an event system that records every significant action, an inbound webhook framework for receiving data from external systems, and supporting structures for public-facing identity and trust credentials.
Hash Maps and Network Fingerprints
The DSM includes several supporting mechanisms that ensure data integrity, device verification, and privacy-preserving references throughout the sharing workflow.
Instance Transactions
An instance transaction represents an approval or rejection action on a sharing instance. When shared data requires explicit consent or verification — from the data provider or another party — the system creates a transaction that must be resolved before the instance can proceed.
Instances and Instance Nodes
When a user shares their data through an access application, the system creates an instance to represent that sharing event. Each instance contains instance nodes — copies of the specific data nodes that were shared.
Nodes and Node Relationships
In the DSM, a node is the atomic unit of personal data. Nodes are connected to each other through relationships, forming a graph that represents a user's complete data profile.
Public Profiles
A public profile is the outward-facing representation of a user's identity and trust credentials. It aggregates several types of information into a single record that can be viewed by potential sharing partners before establishing a formal relationship.
Schema Badges
Schema badges are declarative trust indicators that use the DSM's scoring rule engine to automatically award badges when certain conditions are met. Badges provide visual, verifiable proof that a user or entity has demonstrated a particular capability or credential.
Transaction Details Ledger
The DSM includes a general-purpose transaction details ledger for recording quantitative transactions — such as reputation scores, payment tracking, or reviews. This ledger exists independently of the approval workflow and is designed for tracking cumulative or scored data rather than state-change events.
